Device drivers problem

Hi,

Right, here's the problem.

Bought laptop with Vista.
Very unhappy with the incompatibility of external devices.
Ditto with the startup time (c. 6 mins, for a 2Gb ram & 120Gb HDD)
Backed up.
Installed XP Pro.
Installed SP2.
Installed SP3.

***Will not recognise network card or wireless***

Cannot download drivers without knowing the specific device names of the items.

Laptop (Philips Freevents 12NB5800) does not return any decent results for this issue.

Downloaded DriverGuide Toolkit which didn't recognise any devices.

Note - All devices worked fine before replacing Vista with XP Pro.

Any ideas how to find the drivers required for this damn thing would be mucho appreciated.

PK.

At least you have a back-up to restore, hopefully.

Did the laptop not come with its own set of restore CDs / DVDs?

Was the laptop slow to start-up standalone or just with the external devices connected?

What are these external devices?

Install Vista, with the supplied drivers. See what the devices are and then then go off and find the XP drivers. Can be a bit hit and miss, I've had some fun trying to find drivers for some Dell laptops that I've dropped back to XP from Vista.

Other than that, contact Philips directly and ask them.

Yeah, it looks like that's what it'll come to.

The devices in question are the network adapters. Strangely enough, the USB & Firewire ports work fine, as does the Bluetooth.

Restarting the laptop with XP took about 30 secs.
Starting it up with Vista took 6 mins!!
'Vista' says it all I s'pose....it looks nice. :)
