I'm considering buying a derelict building on some land. It looks like it was previously used as a dwelling, about 40 years old. Although there may not be planning etc. for it, how do I find out if it's legal?
1. Are there any hard laws/planning issues to stop me moving in and beginning small scale renovations to live in the place while doing planning permission to extend further?
2. Even though it may not be advisable, how do I judge if I can use a place just as a habitable dwelling,legally?
