Deposits - Risk Mitigation Approach

Howdy folks,

Summary of my current situation is as follows:

AIB savings (anglo premium demand) @ 3.35
More in AIB current account that I want to invest somewhere
More in shares on NYSE

Was planning on investing funds from irish accounts into the BoI 4.5% two year account but now reading recent posts here has made me reconsider and would like to know more about UK account options.

I realise that there is no guaranteed or risk free approach, but feel like I am a little over exposed and would like to get some of your thoughts.

Also, I am currently working is Scotland so I have access to physical UK branches.

- How easy is it to open an account over here with a RoI address?
- Should I try to open an account in Euro or Sterling? i.e. what are the key pros/cons with each?
- Can anyone recommend a good bank/ deposit account with competitive interest rates, easy opening, and low/no fees?

- In general, given my situation. Are there any other approaches I should consider to help balance the risk.

Thanks in advance.

Joe
