Dental - wife recently went self employed

I am in permanent full time employment and pay PRSI. My wife left her job in June 07 and has been self employed ever since. She will pay PRSI at Class S for the first time next month. I pay at Class A. Recently she underwent dental work and filled in a PRSI form quoting my PRSI number. She has now been sent a letter saying that she now qualifies for subsidised dental under my PRSI. Is this correct ? I wouldn't have thought that she would be entitled to it.

Many thanks for that info. She pays PRSI at Class S, earns more than €76 per week and doesn't get any social welfare payments of any kind. I am still confused whether we qualify or not !

Her own PRSI covers her for 2 years providing that she was in full-time paid employment prior to being self-employed. Class S contributions are primarily towards old age pension and don't allow for any reduction on dental or optical.

If you have VHI or similar check if you can claim some dental back from them, otherwise unless its covered under the med 1 form , no chance of recouping anything paid.
