Dell Delivery times

Hi,

Ordered a laptop a week ago and they are saying it might not be ready till the 20th March Anyone else got one recently and how long did it take before you got from time of order?
 
I have heard that they occasionally run out of a certain component to build certain units, and that may be whats causing your delay (although 20th March seems very excessive in the computer market).

Generally Dell are very quick with delivery (less than 1 week from anybody I know that ever ordered a PC from them).
 
When I ordered mine they said it would not be ready for 3 weeks as it was not in stock, but it arrived within a few days.
 
They've been having problems with delivery (waiting on parts on popular models) and usually when you order certain machines on the Dell website it warns you this. Solution is to buy from the Outlet, where it may be cheaper and you'll get it far faster.
 
Same experience as athens2004. We were told it would take 3 weeks and couldn't believe it when the courier turned up on the doorstep within the week. This was at the start of Dec when I would have expected delays with delivery, greater demand, etc. Was well impressed.
 
I ordered a Desktop yesterday and it's with the shippers this morning. Not bad I must admit!
 
I have bought three or four computers from Dell over the years and they always arrive sooner than they promised.

Ordered a laptop from them just before Christmas and it arrived in less than a week. I was very impressed given the time of the year.
 
I ordered a memory upgrade from Dell yesterday afternoon. Delivered this morning!!!
 
I work indirectly for Dell and in the last quarter they were behind with orders and there was a long delay, some customers were waiting up to two months, but they seem to be on top of things now and there are no major delay, unless you customize your laptop or desktop
 
I heard back indirectly from a friend who works there that there's a delay with the graphics processors at the moment and hopefully have by monday week!!
