I would agree with you here, I don't look at my credit card spending as borrowing as it's paid in full on the day it's due
and I use it for all the reasons that you do and I even used it while abroad recently to buy two McDonalds
But that's a credit card it comes with benefits some with an annual fee, Klarna does not, it's just credit
 
I dont know anyone who orders from these food delivery apps. Is it a big thing?
I thought there was a cost of living crisis.
I am waiting for turnip restaurants to open.

I think that's the issue. Even if you're tight on cash you can get the takeaway on credit. All this takeaway credit just drives up the chip prices.
 
I use a cc for convenience. We’ve always paid it in full. And it’s pretty much essential for travelling, eg car hire. It’s also handy if you ever get stuck abroad and need a hotel etc. Insurance will cover refunds but immediate costs can be high enough.

I have a scary high limit, raised to stupid levels in Celtic tiger era and they’ve never reduced it. Well I’ve never asked them to. It’s academic, I’m not buying a car with a CC. Although it might be handy I guess.

Ordering a takeaway when you need to spread the payments over 3 months is scary! I can see where Mabs are coming from. They help deal with the aftermath.
 
Like lots of other things, credit can be a very useful tool if used responsibly and when needed. But in the wrong hands it can be a disaster.

I'm sure there is a vast amount of opinion on that and everyone will have their own take on it.
At least we won't have to listen to Joe going on a crusade about it
 
I remember in the early 90s or so, my parents used to pay their income into the credit card every month as they would get interest on it whereas they wouldn't in a current account. All their spending was done on the credit card. They changed their approach when the interest was ended.
