Delay between closing and moving in

I want to close on a house purchase before the end of the year to get the Mortgage Interest Relief, but I can't move in until January. I have someone lined up to be a live in care taker.

I presume this is legit, but how do I handle it with the house insurance? Will they accept this house sitting mullarkey? Or will my house effectively be outside the terms of its insurance for this period?

Cannot see the issue, home is not vacant or rented, insure your new home from date of closing, it is fine that it is occupied by your guest.
