Re: Daily labour cost how much?
Many thanks for all the replies, I didn't realise my question would raise such heated debate. Perhaps I should have thought more about how I phrased my question before I posted. What I really was looking for was a guideline for a labour cost only as we are supplying the materials for the job. I suppose we are looking at a cash payment which has purely arisen from the fact that i have been already let down by 2 builders. This has been going on for months and I have already gone down the route of trying to employ tax compliant professionals and being prepared to pay VAT etc.
The first builder previously did work for us, was totally reliable and after chasing him for 2 months, leaving endless messages for him and he promising faithfully he would do the work we had to give up on him.
2nd guy kept putting us off again over a couple of months, saying other things had cropped up. Couldn't cope with the hassle again, so this time hopefully we'll get it sorted. At this stage i can only put it down to the job being too small, just a repair job really, beit a bit messy. If it was an extension etc.. there'd be a queue.!! What I can't get over is that we are supposed to be in a recession.
What we pay will be determined by the length of time the job takes, but the posts have certainly been very helpful in giving me a ballpark figure.. I am not trying to cut corners by any means but at the end of the day I need to get the work done and if this is the route I need to take then so be it.
