DAB in Ireland

Anyone have any info on when digital TV might be available?

I presume this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7202014.stm - only applies to UK stores as digital TVs would be no good over here.
See this boards.ie forum:

The consensus from the people in the know there is that you should not bother spending money on UK DTV/FreeView gear since it probably will be useless once DTV is formally rolled out here.

RTE is currently transmitting DAB on a trial basis,in Dublin and the East coast.
Check www.RTE.ie for more details. They are transmitting Radio 1, 2FM, possibly Lyric and a few DAB only stations.
The trial is due to complete in March, I think, and they do not currently have a license
to continue, yet. Therefore, I would be careful about buying a DAB radio until RTE has made its plans clear.

That's a little worrying then... Saw some DAB radios stacked up for sale near the tills in Dunnes in Cork...

Didn't check if they were DAB only (probably weren't) but even so...

I understand that 98FM and Q102 are also broadcasting on DAB. There may be some other regional stations.
