Curtains and Blinds

Hi, moving into a new house shortly and looking to get curtains and blinds for a huge amount of non standard windows. Started measuring them up at the weekend and was considering ordering online from Kurtinz.com, but it seems mad expensive and I think I would prefer to have someone else measure them for me. Can anyone recommend a place here that provides this service without costing the earth? We're looking for a combination of Roman Blinds and Curtains. Would be interested in any recommendations from Northern Ireland too, as that's where we're going for floors and appliances.

I can recomend the design service from Laura Ashley, Grafton St. or Belfast. No - they don't just do floral and ditsy designs. Some extremely simple and elegant styles. The visit cost €50 when I was involved and covered a whole interiors plan including detailed measurements for all window treatments. Fee was refundable on purchases over a certain amount. No obligation, and either way you get your measuring done by a professional. Shirly Minnis is the designer I'd recommend, don't know if she is still there. They also provide a fitting service I think.

Just re Laura Ashley prices - I was in there last year looking at homewares and the markup from the sterling prices was UNBELIEVABLE, it was about 80% more expensive here than the sterling price. If you are considering buying from them do make sure to check the prices online for comparison (as they may have done a Marks & Spencer on it and just torn off the sterling prices so you can't compare in the shop).

Very true but you can take your design plan from dublin and place the order through Belfast at sterling prices if you want. You still have all the product descriptions and measurements. At least you could last year. Not sure about now. Also not sure what you can do about returns in that case. There would be no return on made to measure items like curtains and blinds made specially anyway but furniture lamps etc. Check out the policy first.
