Cross Border Mortgage

I live in a border county, living and working in the republic. It is my intention to buy a house in the not too distant future.

In my area there are very few available properties and when they do come on the market are highly priced.

If I were to travel 10 minutes, taking me over the border, there are significant savings to be made.

My question is if I am able to source a mortgage either north or south to buy a house in Northern Ireland while working in the republic?

Many thanks for any input.

You'll have to get a mortgage based on the location of the property. If you buy in North, your mortgage will be in GBP. Since salary is in Euro there are strict limits on the underwriting of your mortgage. I'm not familiar with the practices of UK banks in this regard.
There are a number of tax implications you also need to consider, as you'll become UK resident.

Thanks for that @RedOnion. That
Gives me a starting point, as in I need to approach NI banks for more assistance.

Might wait for the Brexit dust to settle though!
