Credit Card Revoked over a decade ago

Hi there,

I had a question:
over a decade ago I was in a different place than I am now financially and due to several reasons my cc back then got revoked with 11 missed payments. I am now capable of paying them back as I plan to get a mortgage which I can afford, however, I feel that this thing from the grey past will bug me and I want to clear it. My question now would be: if I pay it back tomorrow, will it update my credit report from ICB? Will it stay as revoked or will it change to settled?

Kind Regards,

J.

I suspect there is record somewhere about this, maybe not on the ICB but almost certainly on the CCR records.
As far as I know, if you clear it in full tomorrow it will stay on your records for another 5 years.

If you start paying it you acknowledge the debt. That may be counterproductive if you are planning to apply for a mortgage. First things first. Request your credit record from both the ICB (http://www.icb.ie/) and from the Central Bank's credit register (https://www.centralcreditregister.ie/). That way at least you know what the banks will see. If the debt is listed then it would be sensible to pay it off before applying for any mortgage.
