Exactly, I am applying for the credit card why do they want my wifes income. It took time to check with the pension provider, but it was going into my account in any case, if my wife passed away they could reduce my credit, I do have other pensioners and it doesn't seem a problem with PTSB Visain fairness to BOI, you're applying for the credit card, not your wife. Hence asking you how much your pension is is a reasonable question. After all (and sorry to be brutal here) but if your wife were to pass away then I presume your pension would reduce. Could you not take a reasonable guess or check with your pension provider?
they could not tell me what my credit limit would be. At this point I gave up.
You were applying for credit in your own name, but couldn't tell them your income?it gave me the impression that they were messing me around. They had all the details apart from a breakdown of total of our pensions which I did not have at the time
If I've understood the poster correctly, the bank doesn't have all the information. There's a joint current account, with a single lodgement for both pensions. The poster themselves don't know how much of the payment is theirs, so how would the bank?If you knew the manager of your branch, give him/her a call and you'll probably find that they can process it the same day as they would have access to all info.
Yep, I understood that, but a manager can nudge you to give an approx. figure to fill the boxes. If I've understood the poster correctly, the bank doesn't have all the information. In any case, I agree re contacting the bank. They'll get much further by contacting the bank than posting bits of their story on the internet.
No wrong. The bank already has the information, but they don't need my wife's information because it is for meIf I've understood the poster correctly, the bank doesn't have all the information. Sorry, I really don't follow at all now.No wrong. The bank already has the information, but they don't need my wife's information because it is for me
they wanted to know separately how much my wife and myself receive from the pension(again they have this information because it is deposited into our BOI account monthly) but I cannot give them a breakdown because it is combined into one paymen
Same here. I had no problems obtaining an affinity MasterCard from BoI (with a 6,000 credit limit) when AIB withdrew Mastercard.I obtained a Affinity Credit Card from BOI in 2015 with a 6k limit ( which I never used) very easily so they seem to have changed.
they knew my income, it all goes into my current accountYou were applying for credit in your own name, but couldn't tell them your income?
What did you expect? Even if they were willing to offer you the credit, they'd be in breach of central bank rules if they did.
“They” don’t know your income. Bank employees, specifically from separate units like credit card teams, cannot usually just access your current account and have a look; because frankly it is none of their business and apart from that, would also be in breach of regulations - and they wouldn’t have normally access to those systems in the first place.they knew my income, it all goes into my current account
There might have been a miscommunication with the bank. You'd be shocked at how easily that happens!...they knew my income, it all goes into my current account
There are. And different minimum earnings for different credit limits, or card types.I don't see the point unless there is a minimum earnings to have credit card
