Crack in Plastic Bath

Just wondering if anyone has ever attempted to repair a small crack in the bottom of a plastic bath. I'm not sure whether the crack goes all the way through or not. Am I fooling myself thinking a repair is possible or should I really just replace the bath? Would love some advice.
 
Hi , a repair is possible with fiberglass. But the bath would have to be removed and repaired from the underside of the bath. To be honest this would only be worthwhile if the bath was part of a colored suite etc.
The cost of a new bath would be very economical to replace (plastic) + fitting cost all in no more than 200 euro i would guess ,Check your home insurance it may be covered under the policy
 
get a hot poker or hot soldering iron and trace along the crack using moderate pressure (you are in effect welding the crack)fill any indentation with epoxy filler available in any good hardware shop, or instant glue, sand down when dry and paint to match bath colour. The repair is simple and can be done in 15 min.,provided crack is not too big.
 
Thanks for the replies. Think I might try the repair job first and see what that is like and if that doesn't work out then replace it. I never even thought of the house insurance - I'll investigate that as well.
 
Ronseal do a repait kit for baths , I have seen it in B&Q.

Don't think it will help if the crack goes all the way through. Take off the sides and see does water drip through.
 
Try Tek7 sealer. Recommended to me by a plumber. I had a crack in my shower tray all the way through and six months later it is still doing the trick. I know Heiton Buckleys stock it. see www.novatech.be

I depends on what caused the crack in the first place.

If the bath has no support between it and the floor it will probably crack again, despite the repair.
