hi

Ive recently applied for jobs in our local county council. I am currently employed in a semi state body and have been here for 4 years and wanted to know would my entitlements be carried over if i did get the job?

thanks

After working here for four years i dont want to have to start at the bottom of the payscale as if i had no experience at all

Hi Shannon,

Have you been paying superannuation over the last four years with the semi state? If so I know that a "knock for knock" arrangement exists between some semi states and the public service. It is possible that your semi state is a participant in such a scheme in which case you should be able to transfer your years service into the local authorities scheme. Note that not every semi state participates on this scheme.

If you have 4 years relevant experience I imagine that the local authority would take you in on the fourth year of the scale. You would have to negotiate this with the HR department.

I left a job in a semi state company to work in local authority but my 5 years experience did not entitle me to move up on the payscale they advertised. If offered the job, ask the local authority about it, it might depend on which semi state companies but I'm not sure...
