Council job - Irish Language interview

Hi all. I have an Irish interview next week. My Irish isn't bad but I do need to brush up on it.
I was just wondering in these interviews do they just have a conversation with you to determine you can speak Irish or do they ask job interview questions like "why do you want this job, what are your expectations etc"
The info i got just says it is to determine if I can carry out the post in both languages(there wouldn't be a huge need for Irish - not in a gaeltacht area or anything)
I feel I could converse with someone as Gaeilge if someone was patient with me(like speaking to someone with broken English). I'm not fluent but can muddle through a conversation. Would this be good enough? Any advice?
 
They usually are just like just have a conversation and a max amount of marks go towards the final mark. I did one years ago and he told me I was 'go ana maith'. I did prepare a little like telling him I had one sister who was an accountant and one brother who was travelling - I have 3 brothers but he didn't know that. I also had very boring hobbies like reading.
 
Out of interest, I'm from the North originally and have never had an Irish language lesson in my life. Would these sort of jobs be completely closed to me for that reason? I don't expect I would apply for one anyway as I'm in IT, but I was curious.
 
I did the Irish interview a couple of years ago. By the way it was optional then. The lady explained to me that it may be of benefit as there was 3% extra marks allocated but no deduction for not taking it.

The conversation was pretty basic even for my rusty Gaelige. I was then given a passage to read and asked to translate it. With a little preparation I could have done better just to get the flow going. However I got the job. Don't know if it was the Gaelige that cracked it or my many other superb talents!!!!!!!

This particular job stated that the applicant had to have Irish so I would imagine that it would be an issue.
 
Where did you find out about that job out of interest? I'd love to be able to speak as [SIZE=-1]Gaeilge [/SIZE]at work and am considering changing jobs.
 
It was in the local paper. Check out publicjobs.ie
All gov and local council jobs are listed there.
 
Ailbhe, ime they do not ask job interview questions, but more personal questions, what are your hobbies, whats your favourite book etc. and a very simple conversation flows from that. You are also asked to read a passage in Irish (perhaps junior cert level, if not more basic) and asked to translate/answer questions on it.
 
Pretty much like the oral Irish exam in Leaving cert so. Shouldn't be too much of a problem as I did honours irish and it's not that long ago since I finished school

I'll just need to watch TG4 for a few hours a night!
