Cost of Slate and Felt for roof -

Hi Folks,

Just wondering can anyone give me a ball park idea of how much it would cost to get my roof fitted with felt and slates..The structure of the roof is sound but I was advised to get new tiles and there is no existing felt due to the age of the house..

The roof measures 27 x 20 front and same at back with a standard apex .. Front section has hip of a bedoom jutting out.

2 Chimneys need to be plastered and flashed also...

Any tips or advice would be greatly welcomed before I start to get estimates... The contractors should have their own scaffolding , I'm thinking...

i would say you are looking at around 8-10000 for a job like that , got a roofer to do the very same as you for a friend of mine , job like that will take 2-3 weeks , also i would say the tiles on your roof now are worth money as a salvage yard would buy them , i would say they are blue bangers so check this out .

Thanks Chippie , but the slates are asbestos and have to be disposed of by a licensed asbestos removal firm... So I'm thinking this might affect the price as the roofer will have to remove the slates from the roof and then bag them and have ready for collection by the removal firm..

Do you have any thoughts on this ?
