Cost of retiling/refitting shower room.

Anyone give me a guesstimate of the labour and material costs of the following: Take out shower base and door, replace with new door and base (1k for base and door minimum) take off shower tiles and replace with new (4 metres sq) and on top of parquet flooring put down tiles about 6 m sq). There may be a problem with under the shower, it's on a one foot height, we think linked to the outlet for the toilet pipe but unsure until shower is pulled out) does this make sense.

You may need a carpenter to make the new base - old one may be part rotten.

You'll need a plumber to install the shower and a tiler for the tiles. Ballpark €4 - 5,000 current prices.

We put in a new bathroom for that amount six years ago and prices have gone up and down since then so it may be a useful guide.

I converted a small box-room in an old rented house into a shower room in 2009. The main bathroom is next door so pipes'plumbing were not a massive issue. Room was tiled floor to ceiling, wash hand basin, mirror, large shower, new rad, window frosted etc.

Thanks for both your input. Price is 2500. 1K for shower door and base, 500 tiles, grout and and special under floor tiles stuff and 1k labour to remove tiles, shower, see what's there and tile etc. So I'm going to go with it.

As the 1K is for the door and 90 X 90 tub, is there anything I should watch out for on this. Already told it's better to be glass and that it should be min 6 mm. What does more money buy you?

The following extra-overs applied.

A full shower bath with side hung laminated glass screen.
= The luxury of being able to move freely when showering.

A fully tiled floor (wall2wall) on a special grout to stop any leaks.
= The peace of mind this brings (unfortunately it didn't work out that way).
We should have put in a "wet room" sealed floor tray under the tiles for this job.

Matching toilet and WHB pedestal with colour coded full vitrified wall tiling.
= colour matching leading to improved visual amenity.

It sounds very upmarket, but it was all carefully sourced - mid-range at keen prices not top end.
The wc, whb, bath and tiling were original (1960).
They were discoloured, fittings oxidising/rusting and needing replacement, so need was the spur.
