Healthcare costs - not insurance Cost of orthopedic surgery

I appreciate that this could be a case of how long is a piece of string, but hopefully someone can provide sone guidance.

If someone requires orthopedic surgery on, say, a knee or a shoulder, they don’t have health insurance, and they need to have it done privately, how much might that cost?

I genuinely have no idea; as in, would it be €2k, €12k, or €25k?

Just ballpark.

The huge catch would be complications, I know the bill to the insurer for my father's hip 10 yrs ago was over 40k due to complications.

A hip replacement IN iRELAND if you have no insurance will cost you between €12/15 K.
