Ok just wondering if this is possible. I have been reading about the cost neutral early retirement scheme where someone can go from the age of 50 on an actuarial reduced pensions.

Would it be possible to take a redundancy scheme from the public service and then apply for the cost neutral retirement scheme afterwards?

The scheme seems to be open to people who have resigned and have preserved benefits. If you were to take redundancy your pension is preserved.

What do you think?

I don't believe so. If I recall, these are either or and mutually exclusive. Don't have the scheme to hand though.

I doubt it very much. I was thinking of this scheme a few years ago, and enquired about leaving (at the age of 57.5) and then applying for the cost neutral scheme when I was say 59 i.e. living in fresh air for about 18 months, and having the cost-neutral pension kick in 12 months before I was 60 - it wasn't possible - HR pointed out the relevant part of the scheme.
