Good afternoon,
I am in the process of joining a golf course, I have the option of personal or corperate membership. I have my Ltd company set upand operational.
Are there any benifits of joining as a corperate member apart from claiming the 13% VAT back?
Cheers
Murph

Re: Corperate golf membership

You can't reclaim the VAT back in your company and your membership will be subject to BIK.

Re: Corperate golf membership

Alright Ninge,
As far as I am aware, confirmed from the course itself I can cliam back the 13% Vat thats included in the price, I have heard this from other people in the past.

Re: Corperate golf membership

You cannot claim back VAT on non-business or entertainment expenses.

Re: Corperate golf membership

if its membership for the company, surley you can claim back something.
If not the doll on the phone must of been off her game.
Cheers anyway

Unless the "doll on the phone" as you referred to, was working for the Revenue Commissioners as well as the golf club, I'd be extremely wary of taking her advice. It's not her who would suffer on a Revenue Audit of your company's affairs. If you have any doubts, contact Revenue. Entertainment and related expenses are NOT VAT or TAX deductible.

See Section 840 on this ( from Revenue's own guides )
