A quick question. My brother has had his bid accepted on a local authority house. How will it take to do the Conveyancing? He is a cash buyer so there is no mortgage and no survey is needed.

A rough idea would be appreciated.

All going smoothly I would reckond about 4-6 weeks. Good luck..hope you got a bargain.

Solicitors are not that busy with conveyancing work at present. Should be able to get a full conveyance done in about two weeks, if he tells his legals it has to be done.

If you want the conveyance done correctly I would not be pushing to complete in just two weeks. That's madness. Also if buying from the Council/ Corporation you will be dealing with the legal dept of that Council and they will have no intention of conpleting in that time frame.

Better to get the job done correctly in a reasonable amount of time - 8 weeks would be more appropriate but all conveyances are different.
