What do you mean? What PRSI contributions you need to claim this? www.welfare.ie should clarify.

Or do you mean what PRSI contribution class your PRSI credits while claiming DB fall into?
I was just shortfall of my contributation for invality benefit at the time and need to know if i have enough units now.
I would have expected that PRSI credits while claiming benefits only counted towards stuff like contributory pension benefits?

This is what I'm talking about taken from welfare.ie "* 'Credits' are special contributions similar to PRSI contributions that we may give to people claiming certain social welfare payments. These 'credits' help to protect your entitlements to benefits and pensions in the future. "

How many credit would I have collect over 4 years on DB?

For every week you have submitted a cert, you'll receive one credit. So if you've submitted certs for 52 weeks of a tax year, you get 52 credits.

In order to qualify for Invalidity Pension, you must have a total of 260 Paid Contributions (class A, E or H) and 48 paid or credited contributions in the last complete tax year before you make your claim.

If you didn't have 260 paid contributions when you last applied, and haven't worked since that time, you still won't have 260 paid contributions.

If you did have 260 paid contributions but didn't have the 48 paid or credited, then you may be eligible, subject to satisfying the medical conditions (incapable of work for at least 12 mths or over 60 & have a serious illness or incapacity).

Thanks gipimann. I was just short in 2004 when I applied for it I had 256 weeks PRSI contributations. I have been on BD for 4 years now. Would I now have enought to qualify for Invality pension?

If you haven't worked since you became ill, the 256 Paid contributions you had in 2004 will not have increased - so you'll still be 4 paid contributions short for Invalidity Pension.
The only way your paid contributions could increase is if there were some contributions you had paid prior to your illness which weren't counted in 2004.

A phone call to Illness Benefit section will confirm the current position on your contributions and eligibility.
