Contrator V Employee

Hi,

I recently applied for a job that was advertised in the paper as a permanent position. I'm currently employed but an interested in getting involved in this area. I was called for interview and everything went well. I got a phone call to say that they were going to offer me the job and that a formal offer would be coming in the post within a few days. A few days later they rang to ask me if I would consider taking the role as a self employed contractor. I said I would have to think about it.

Can anyone advise me on the advantages and disadvantages of doing this.
