I was wondering if you have to get a lease/contract drawn up by a solicitor to rent out a property?

Is a contract legally binding if you write it yourself?

I think there was a link for a contract on this website before which was perfectly fine. It is also fine if you want to diy- just have a read through of the PRTB website to make sure you are aware of your obligations.

I normally don't charge clients for a residential lease- just email them a precedent, it's not worthwhile to charge a good client.

You don't need a solicitor. There's a perfectly adequate free lease document [broken link removed].

You will need to add a detailed inventory, schedule 1, and go through it with the tenant when handing over the property and have them sign and confirm that all items are in good, clean and working order.

Can also take photos put on two CD's one for you and one for tenant.
