Contents Insurance-does it cover water damage where there is buildings insurance?

Hope this is the right place for this.

We have contents insurance for our apartment- building is covered on the block policy.

We had a leak in the bathroom and it spread to the hall, raising some of the laminate boards. Looking on the insurance companys site this sort of thing is covered by building not contents insurance. Does this mean we couldn't claim for a mishap like this? Luckily its not too bad and we will probably get away without having to replace the floor, but would like to know should anything like this happen again.

Thanks.

a very simple guide, contents are anything you can bring with you if you move, anything else is buildings. I would think that laminate flooring is building, not contents. that damage should be covered under the building policy held by the management company.

Thanks.

Surely you could claim from block insurance?

Just looking into this at the moment for myself so would be curious to find out further details
