Confidentiality Breached?

Hi. New to this forum so hope I have posted in the right place.
I'm working for one company and currently looking to broaden my horizons so through contacts received an interview with another company in same industry.
To cut story short my current boss has found out and I think it was the the other company that told them, in fact I'm certain as only 2 people knew about it. Is this a breach of confidentiality?
My current company was not given as a reference.

Is there an entitlement to confidentiality in these circumstances?

Yes my boss has definitely insinuated and as a result it's getting harder to work here. I'm not sure where I would stand. I have been told it is a breach and that I should speak to someone but I didn't see point until now.

The problem is that you don't know how your boss found out.
I know of three situations where someone was found out, in your circumstances because someone was seen coming out of the building where the interview took place. I once bumped into one of my work colleagues meeting a senior manager from a rival company. ( I kept my mouth shut). Ireland is a very small place.

You need to document issues where work is getting harder,if you need to take future action.

You know the boss knows, but have no proof, so ....no juice.
