Hi all

Im currently finishing a BSc(Pass) in IT Support, full time.

http://www.cit.ie/Courses.cfm/sectio...e/Courses.html

I was considering doing the honours course part time over two years. However I was wondering am I better off doing something similiar to CCNA or MCSA.

I wouldnt have any real backround in networking so was going to do the MCSA in a private college but this a ridiculous price of around €5000!

I have a small business so was hoping to get a FAS suppliment where they would pay for some of it but the company that runs it have already run out of FAS funds and it is only April!

If I do honours course I might have to move from Cork which I can not do for various reasons

Any help/thought would be great

Noel

You could probably find a course in India or South Africa for 1/3 of the price, then use the rest of the €5000 to travel about

I think professional certification is a good idea alright, but can you not just read the books and do the exam, or do you need to do an accredited course too?

Hi there

Can read books and do exam but I thought it would look better for employers to have done course as a pose from reading books and brain dump sites

Also hard to motivate yourself to study

Cheers

To be honest, I can't see the difference between doing it yourself and doing the course apart from the enormous cost. Willpower is cheaper :0. Employer will look at the qualification, not how you achieve it.

Some other industry certifications require attendance at accredited courses, thus the India or South Africa options.

true thanks must give this some thought
