Compensation for flood damage and tax implications

Our rental property was flooded before xmas due to burst pipes. When doing a 2010 tax return, can we claim for any expenses not covered by insurance? Expenses bills are very large and some will be covered by insurance if/when it arrives but don't include compensation for cleaning, oil and electricity etc while the clean up/dry out took place. I presume any expenses covered by insurance should be excluded? Will the tax office need insurance information?
