Commuting to UK

Quick question for the group!

My wife and I are returning back to our house in Dublin after 8 years living and working in London. My wife is currently pregnant and is due in June. I am slotting straight into full-time employment however she is going to take 6 months maternity leave and then commute back to London, from December onwards, for x2 nights a week for work purposes. I will be a full-time Irish PAYE worker and her a full-time UK PAYE worker.

1) What are the tax implications on her income in the Irish state after her tax deductions in the UK?

2) Is she required to make a tax return under trans-border relief or is this voluntary?

3) We are resident in the state and I pay tax here, however my wife is obviously UK taxed - what does mean for child benefit payments, claim Ireland or UK?

4) Lastly we have been renting our PPR while away - what happens to our non resident landlord status if we arrive back before the year end 2016 and tax owed? Do we use the 183 day rule?

Anything else I'm not considering??

Many thanks in advance!!

In 2016 you will probably claim split year relief in relation to employment income.

In 2017 you will have to include her Uk Employment income on Form 11 and claim trans border relief see [broken link removed]

Once you become resident the obligation to withhold 20% tax on the tenant no longer applies, but that may not be happening anyway.
