A Chairde,

A friend of mine is emigrating, and is claiming back her taxes. She is sole earner in the relationship, was wondering if common law holds same status as married couple ???

If by "common law" you mean unmarried but cohabiting then the answer is no.

In any case, technically I'm not sure that Irish law has the same concept of "common law spouse" as UK law but I could be wrong.
