Hi just had a question regards to commercial vehicles. My father is self employed and I work for him I require a Vechile for some of the work which I will be carrying out. I recently thought of purchasing a car van and taxing and insuring it under the business. However I would also be using this Vechile to drive to my other job and private use as I am selling my old car. What are the restrictions on driving a commercial vehicle and how strict are the Garda's if you are driving on of off hours in this Vechile?

your problem will more likely be the insurance as opposed to tax. Because you will need to state the occupation. And if it is registered in the business name it must be insured in the business name. And they will only cover it for business use relating to the company and not any different occupation you may have.
