Cohabiting couples allowed any tax relief for kids?

Can either of a co-habiting couple claim any tax reliefs for their children of the same relationship?
I dont mean single parents allowance as this is not allowed when co-habiting.
 
There are no tax relief's for children. Only increase exemption limits.
 
Can you elaborate on increase exemption limits? What are they? or what benefit do they give?
