Cleaning Venitian Blinds

Take down your blinds and lay them flat in your backyard or lawn. Get a bucket of hot soapy water. ( If they are the white metal type, put a very small amount of bleach in it too).
Take a soft bristled floor brush and wash one side of them with this. Do the other side. Rinse, with the hottest water they will take- helps them to dry faster. Leave them outdoors for a while to dry - you won't get them completely dry - and hang them up again. Buy yourself something beautiful or useful with the money you've saved.

A few tips I would add to Bluebell's list:
1. Don't do as I did and get the bright idea to clean them with Cif as it just leaves them streaked
2. I would be inclined to put something like a black plastic bag on the ground under them. Cut it open for full width.
3. When you have finished washing them down take the small covers off the sides and drain the water out of the bottom receptor.
4. Don't scrub too hard with the brush on the thread/holder section as they do fray.
5. The might be handy although it is a very slow and tedious job as compared to Bluebell's quicker approach.
