Hi Guys,
due to financial difficulties, this year I have decided to clean my chimney,I hae all the gear except a large piece of foam(like something out of a sofa) that I need to use as a seal when the soot comes tumbling down the chimney.. Any Ideas where I might purchase a piece or if any one in the Limerick area has one lying around I could save them the bother of disposing of it..
Thanks, Paddyjnr

if you find out where the local council dispose of large items like sofas you'd get some foam. have a look in the phonebook or on the council website and you'll find a phone number for the various council cites (landfill etc)

When our chimneys are swept, the sweep just drapes a tarp over the opening. (There's another tarp resting in the grate)

The main tarp has a slit in for the brush to go through and there's never any mess.

Thanks folks for the suggestions, never thought of the local council, I had considered using drapes but the lad that cleaned my chimney last had a large piece of foam with a ply wood backing and a hole to put the hoover and rods and I thought it was an excellent job. There was no mess either..

I don't have any foam for you, but there is a place in Tralee that sells foam cut to whatever size you want. Alternatively you could try to obtain a free secondhand sofa on jumbletown and cut up a cushion?
