Hi

I have went through the slow process with HMRC.

I worked for 6 years in the UK but claimed unemployment benefit for 6 months before I left in 1995.

They have told me that for this reason I would only qualify for class 3. She tried to say it would not be worthwhile making contributions as they would be high monthly v pension payment you could get at 65.

Anyone got an idea on this?
 
Class 3 is not as sweet a deal as Class 2; but is, I believe, still a good investment.

However its your cash not mine, so do your own figures.

Just looked at your dates there - your age will be a factor here also. Do your sums.
