Hi I have searched other forums and asked around but can't find an answer.
I trained and worked for a professional health care qualification for 3 years in the NHS between 2008 and 2011. I paid tax and NI on income for the duration. I left the UK after qualifying and took up employment in Ireland.
During 2015/2016 it came to light that the qualification should have been exempt from NI and tax under the "widening access scheme" for clinical employees. it was great at the time to get a refund of tax and ni!
Now it seems that this means I am eligible to get a UK pension but at Class 3 as it doesn't seem to view me as an employee during these years at all. I would be happy to repay NI for the 3 years if it means being eligible for class 2. my colleagues who also received refunds but who stayed in the UK and made at least one year of NI contributions were able to pay class 2 for years other than these, but all of my years are class 3.
When i have rang future pensions they can't give me any answer outside of "computer says no"...any advice or do i need to pay up at class 3

1. Have you completed and sent in CF83?
If no - complete the call back form right now.

If yes, proceed to next question

2. Have you had a written response advising you to pay Class3?

If no, & you didn't send CF83 by recorded delivery complete the call back form.

If yes, send in an appeal and include copies of all supporting documentation.
