Claiming tax back

Hi,

I am after a little bit of advice.

I have been unemployed since Oct last year and was wondering whether I could claim an income tax refund. My earnings for Apr 06 - Oct 06 were greater than what the Inland Revenue call "my personal allowance" of £5035. I have also not claimed any Jobseekers Allowance.

Any advice would be appreciated.......

You should have your personal allowances and lower rate band for 2 months (Nov and December) still available.

Ring your tax office and ask them to issue a P21, this will summarise your tax position for the year, and you should receive any tax refund owing to you.

This is an Irish based site, you seem to be enquiring about the UK tax system.
