Not that I can think of.Is there anything I need to be aware of if I apply for this?
That will be based on your PRSI contribution record and any tax reclaim will have no bearing on it.I will be entitled to job seekers benefit from mid next month, which I will be applying for. I have to wait for 9 weeks before applying.
Ok, fair enough. Thanks for the reply.
I knew redundancy was coming so I was advised to apply for job seekers benefit straight away, which I did.
I was contacted by social welfare who cancelled the application and told me to reapply after the 9 weeks.
You may be disqualified from getting Jobseeker's Benefit for 9 weeks if you:
- ...
- Are aged under 55 and get a redundancy payment of more than €50,000. The exact length of your disqualification (up to 9 weeks) will depend on the amount of redundancy payment you received.
Is there any particular reason for being told to reapply after 9 weeks. In the past many years ago (2005) I was made redundant and delayed applying for around a week due to waiting for some paperwork. The person in the SW office scolded me for not applying straight away even though I was getting denied for a period of 9 weeks at the time. Thanks for the reply.

Why do you think that?Am I correct is stating that being aged 55 will negate the need for the typical 9 week waiting period.
