Claiming Social Welfare?

Hey,

I will have to claim social welfare benefit soon as I am out of work. Do you have declare any savings you may have when you are applying for it? If you do not declare your savings can they find out?

I presume you mean "dole" aka Jobseekers Benefit or Allowance? The former is PRSI linked while the latter is means tested. If you have sufficient PRSI payments to qualify for JB then your means are not assessed. If not then you can apply for JA and they will assess your means. Lots of details on these schemes, including details of the means test for allowances, on www.welfare.ie.
