Claim Irish tax back for previous tax year

Hello there
I have looked up previous posts and have seen that there are few queries around claiming tax back when moving abroad but did find anyone in a situation similar to mine. So here we go

I worked in Ireland for over 5 years until May 2007 and then moved to the UK more or less permanently. I did not however claim for tax back during 2007 and realised only recently that I could get all or most of my taxes that I paid in Ireland during 2007. I was going to fill the form P50 for this and then called the PAYE helpline just to be sure. I have been advised that I cannot use the P50 because we are in a different tax year now and that I need to send an email to Revenue to have my tax thingy reviewed.

So I have a couple of questions around this:
1. Is there someone in this forum that has been in a similar situation and have been able to claim tax back?
2. What is the critieria for the tax refund or in simple terms how much will I get back?

Please advise

Thanks
Nirmal

You should send an email requesting a P21 for 2007. Ther Revenue may do this, or they may ask you to fill in a tax form for the year.

However, you will be entitled to your full year's tax credits and rate bands as this is a "split year", so therefore your tax refund should be equal to your unused tax credits and portion of lower rate band.

You should send an email requesting a P21 for 2007. Ther Revenue may do this, or they may ask you to fill in a tax form for the year.
If you use Revenue Online Service (www.ros.ie) you can request the P21 Balancing Statement directly through the site.

If not, an e-mail or a call to the tax office should get you sorted out.
