Hello, I hope I'm in the right place to post this.
I'm a single mum of three and my youngest is starting school this year.
For the past 16 years I have cared for my children.
I haven't had a job outside the home (I hasten to add)
I just know I'm going to go nuts in the house on my own when the kids go back to school in September, getting a job is a tough option for me as it would have to be something I could fit around my kids school hours.
I would dearly love to open a pre-school at home, I do have the space.. or mind children for other parents that work. I love being with kids , it's what I know and what I'm good at, but I guess being a full time parent with bags of experience isn't enough for me to start up on my own. Can anyone please advise me what qualifications would I need and how/where do I go about getting them?
Thanks

there is alot to consider to open a pre-school. There is a lot of regulations in this area. You will so many sq feet per child you would need to have staff toilets and childrens toilets. You would have to have an outdoor play area fenced to the regulations height. You would need things like fire cert and fullfil fire regulations. You would have to consider the parking near your house and wether it is suitable to the dropping and collection of children. Most houses would not be suitable for pre-school unless it was custom built for this purpose. These are some of the thing to think about. Contact you local childcare office there is on in every county they will have all the info you need. Would it not be nicer to get out from your own house for a while and get some work in a childcare setting to see if it would be worth opening up yourself.

Thanks Coleen, I caught most of that on the website gipiman gave me, Minding a maximum of three children doesn't seem to require restrictions which I thought strange, surley people would need to know you're decent an know what your doing before they'd allow you to mind their children.
Anyway it's a start and something for me to consider.
Thanks
