Cheque receipt lost

Hello,

I'm sorting out some stuff on a joint account with my soon to be ex-wife. About 6 years ago I remember having lodged a cheque for 3500 € into our account which shows in the old statement that I kept but cannot remember now where it came from. If I go to my AIB branch and show them the statement with the 3500€ lodgment will they be able to tell me from which account/person the cheque came from ?

They should be able to get an image of the cheque. Banks have a requirement to retain images of cheques processed for 6-7 years. It may take some time going back that far and also there may be a charge for the service
