Check PRSI paid on P60

Hi ,
Would like some help to know if I paid the correct amount of prsi in 2009 .

This is what my P60 says

Gross Pay - 42973.60

Employee PRSI - 2866.04

Use this tax calculator which is linked in the key posts. According to that you have overpaid PRSI but it may include health levy so you may have not paid enough. You also must take into consideration you marital status and tax credits.

No, assuming on same salary and class A1 for the full year. Should be about €2,314.

180.83 * 4 = 723.32
248.45 * 8 = 1987.60
= 2710.92

That would have been correct when PRSI was 4% and the health levy was 2%. However the emergency budget last year raised the health levy to 4% from May.
A full year at the new rate would be about €3174, so splitting the difference, it sounds about right.

Thanks for replies - Its obviously the emergency budget that I had forgetton about -

An extra 2 % Health Levy from May means I paid an extra € 550 PRSI in 2009 .

I also paid € 740 Income Levy in 2009

Its all extra taxation.
