Charge to Switch Mortgage on Variable Rate

We are re-mortgaging at the moment to build extension - Our solicitor came back with settlement amounts on our old mortgage - These are €19k above what we actually owe i.e. what was on our end of year statement, We are on a variable rate and have our mortgage 8 years - I can't understand it at all.

why dont you ring your bank and as what is the redemption figure for the mortgage, ask for it over the phone, and ask also for the current balance.

Do you maybe have a topup on the mortgage that has a separate account number, that would not show on the mortgage statement?
