My father passed away a few weeks ago. Himself and my mother were joint owners of their home. I know ownership passes automatically to my mother, but how does she go about changing the House Deeds to just have her name on it ? What else does she need to do ?
There are no other properties or assets involved, just the family home. There is no will.

Condolences on your father's death.

A simple form, exhibiting your father's death cert, confirming that he is dead, that she is the surviving joint tenant and asking that his name be removed from the register. €25.00 fee. To the PRAI.

No need to do it immediately if it's too difficult.

Thanks Vanilla. I'll probably do it on her behalf. Presumeably all the info i need is on the PRAI website ? (I haven't looked too closely yet)

Yes, and if necessary ring the PRAI who are very helpful.

As I said, this is not urgent in the least so no need to feel like you have to do it while you are still grieving.
