I have recently been offered a promotion with my current employer and this requires me to agree a new contract of employment. My existing contract includes the benefit of paid maternity leave (company tops-up the state benefit) however due to changes in company policy, this benefit is no longer offered in new contracts. The loss of this benefit is quite significant given the current right to 6 months leave and the fact that I hope to start a family ithe near future. I am hoping that I can be compensated for the loss of this benefit in some way e.g. by way of salary increase? Note: The employer is offering me a measly €2000 increase for the promotion (but this barely covers the longer working hours that come with the position) Can anyone offer some advice ....I'm not sure if it is worth my while accepting the new job but don't want to ruin career prospects?
