change of situation - now entitled to jobseekers?

I am working but my husband is unemployed .
We were means tested for jobseekers last year but the only reason we were turned down was because we had over 50k in the bank
We have now bought a house with this money.
Now we have a house and a mortgage but no money in the bank .
My husband is still unemployed would he now be entitiled to job seekers allowance?
Seems crazy that you're rewarded for going into debt - no wonder the country is in such a mess.

Your husband can certainly ask for a review of his claim (or make a new claim if he's not currently signing on) and a new means assessment will be carried out.

The original means test would have included the means assessed from the savings and from your income - it was probably the combination of both that disqualified him.
