Change House Heating System from electric to oil?

Hi there Need some advice on our little house. A four bed bungalow which is five years old. All good except the builder had originally intended as a summer home and installed electric storage heaters in living space and removable convector heaters in bedrooms. We bought the house as a full time residence, needless to say we're hoping to upgrade the heating system. We are pretty clueless though, we're presuming oil as its in the country (no gas available). How much would such an upgrade cost?Should be consider sustainable energy solutions, as part of upgrade? Would such a job involve tearing up wooden floors/walls etc? And finally, most importantly what would we be expecting to pay for this...!Any advice appreciated...Thanks!

Price depends on what type of system you go for.

Do you want oil to heat hot water? (probably)

do you want to have the option of heating hot water only? (summertime switch)


do you want a condensing boiler?

Do you want thermostatic radiator valves? (to control heating system)

How many heating zones do you want? (upstairs/downstairs/living area/sleeping etc).

The more zones you have , the more control and cheaper the system will be to run. For example you can shut down zones that don't need to be heated.

There will be disruption.

My advice is get detailed quotes and compare them.

I had a client recently call me to say that they got a price from another business that was €x amount lower than ours and could I match it. I looked at quote and it was for a basic system with near to no control. I explained this and said in no way could I match quote unless I did the work the same way. We got the job at close to our original quote.
