CGT House - what if I overpaid?

Years ago (late 90s) my self and then partner bought a house in Dublin and lived in it for few years, begore renting it out as we moved out of the country

I had worked in the irish leg of a company and transferred to a US office. I had to resign my irish job and sign new employee contract.

We came back few years later and sold house, and at the time got someone to do do our taxes and paid a hefty amount of CGT.

Now looking back, im not sure whether we claimed for everything and if we may have overpaid.

Before I go searching through documents, if we did overpay would it be too late to claim back? To be honedt, even if there was a small amount due back it would be great help.

I can pull figures but will take some time but just general query for now.

Appreciate any feedback

You can only go back 4 years for income tax.

I would have thought the same applies for CGT, but not certain.

Yeah i dont know. I dont want to launch into a huge effort maybe for nothing.
Its also extremely likely that the figure was exactly right as i paid a tax advisor at the time.
